THE PRACTICE

Our Practice

Our pediatric practice  is "no ordinary office". In the past, the train provided change from the wilderness to the frontier, and it sparked great things for us all. Our train motif symbolizes how we provide "new age" pediatric medical care.

We deliver quality patient care in the ages of newborn to 21 years for their

  • preventative care

  • treatment of illnesses

  • behavioral management and counseling

  • literacy development

  • prevention of dental caries

Our pediatric office promotes early brain development with the emphasis of breastfeeding, touch-massage, classical music, and reading. We provide a “Reach out and Read” program to promote literacy. Our office is a kid-friendly environment!

Our Medical Providers
Edward Borchard, MD, FAAP

I am a board certified pediatrician. I completed Driscoll Children’s Hospital Residency program  in 1998. I am a former Chairman of Avance-Corpus Christi Chapter, former member of Success by 6.  I've been in private practice for 25 years, I am married to Velma Borchard, and we have two children (Sean 22 years  and Lauren 20 years).

I work at both of our locations.

I am predominantly at the Corpus Christi office, but I do practice at the Robstown location on Fridays.

My passion is early brain development with an emphasis in preventing toxic stress in the family environment. My plan is to increase an infant's, child's, and adolescent's resiliency through promoting good brain and physical health. Come visit me at "the train", where we are "all aboard" with you and your family.

Vivian C. Lopez, FNP -BC
Hello, I am Vivian C. Lopez. As a graduate of Robstown High School it gives me great pleasure to be serving families in my home town as a certified family nurse practitioner.
I graduated with a degree in Human Development and Family Sciences with an emphasis on early childhood development from The University of Texas at Austin in 2008 and went on to teach first grade with Robstown ISD.  In 2010,  I began my studies in nursing at Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi where I received both my BSN and MSN.
My husband, also a Robstown High School Alumnus, and I are proud parents of two wonderful little girls. I believe my experience as a teacher and mother have enabled me to empathize with parents and patients during times of illness and rejoice during successes like meeting development milestones.
It is my mission to provided high quality, evidence based healthcare, education and guidance to the families in my community. I look forward to embarking on this journey as we watch your children grow and flourish into fine young adults.

Christine Rivera, MD, FAAP

I am Dr. Christine Rivera.  I am a board certified Pediatrician and have worked in different pediatric clinical care settings like the inner city hospitals in NYC where I completed my pediatric residency program.  I have also worked in several rural and urban communities in South Texas.  This has thus provided me with a vast wealth of experience in dealing with the problems and medical needs of pediatric patients over the years.

A strong and deep commitment to ensure the provision of quality health care to children in the community is something I share with the members of the medical team of Tots & Teens Pediatrics.  We therefore invite you to visit us at the “train”, and allow us to help you and your children travel the ‘railroad” to a healthy and happy life.

Velma Borchard, FNP-BC, CLC

I am a board certified family nurse practitioner. I was born and raised here in South Texas. I am a former graduate of Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi. I've been working in our pediatric office  close to 23 years. I am also the breastfeeding consultant for the practice and have been helping our patients with meditative breathing techniques.

My passion is to provide quality patient care, promote preventative care and wellness, to be thorough, and to educate family's on the problem at hand. I believe that listening and being empathetic helps to nurture this process.

I have been married to Dr. Edward Borchard for 23 years, and we have two beautiful children. Hope to see you soon at "the train!" I don't think we can...I know we can! (train whistle) ;)
